So..how much income are the tiles on your roof producing for you right now? Probably zero. More to the point they are probably costing you money, with maintenance and the like.

Enter solar roof tiles from Tesla thanks to Elon Musk and his teams to change the game up a notch or two.

Now available on the market are solar roof tiles, lower than the cost of regular roof tiles that will not only roof you house in a stylish manner, create electricity, but actually make you money by feeding your electricity you don’t use back to the grid.

These glass solar tiles also integrate a heating element for those whom live in snowy conditions, alleviating the problems caused on traditional tiles from built up snow. These elements work similar to that of a car rear window defroster.

Elon Musk Solar Tiles

Available in smooth and textured styles and soon to be available this year in Tuscan and Slate, they are by far more visually appealing than the traditional solar panel hardware. Also, as noted by Elon Musk, each tile in the slate range are unique – meaning no two roofs will be alike thanks to an individual approach to printing on each tile.

Not only do they look pretty slick….and provide you with electricity, they are┬ámore than three times stronger than standard roofing tiles! Tesla’s approach living for tomorrow includes the electric car, the power wall and the solar roof. Perhaps there is some room for the likes of solar roads and solar paint in that mix too?

The approach with the solar roof product, and all Tesla products is that it should be to beautiful, affordable and seamlessly integrated. Looks like they are heading in the right direction.
